Area was extremely damp due to a very warm winter thaw and rains that day and the day before. Tree was a dead elm in a mixed woodland of mainly hardwoods. Close examination by Dr. Methven (see annotation above) combined with the 2015 DNA analysis confirmed that this specimen is Flammulina velutipes.
