This species has a stipe that is slender, with a bulbous base; covered with pattern of small, brownish scales, showing white between. The veil is membranous, white; leaving persistent, double-edged, movable, bandlike ring on upper stipe. Also know as Lepiota procera. 2015 DNA analysis comfirmed this species to be Macrolepiota procera.
