It’s Morel Madness Time!!!!
The St Louis Chapter is excited to host Morel Madness at the 4,200-acre H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation near Osceola, MO. It’s the home of the Osage Wilderness trail, consisting of 12.5 miles of rugged Ozark woodlands. We had so much luck finding morels there last year, we decided to have it there again this year!
Our featured speaker will be Bruch Reed, North American Mycological Association (NAMA) Chief Operating Officer. We’ll be offering a variety of skill level forays, as well as interesting afternoon workshops on mushroom identification and mushroom jerky making. Weather permitting, we’ll be going on a nighttime UV-flashlight walk through the woods on Friday night, and have a burning man inspired bon fire on Saturday night.
All this for the incredibly low price of:
- $30 per adult member, $40 nonmember guest
- $15 Student, Children under 14 free!
- Housing $20 per person needing a bed for the weekend (no charge if you bring your own tent)
Housing: Camp Piercing Arrow has a variety of furnished cabins, some with bathrooms and mini kitchens, others with dorm style bunk houses and separate bath houses. Cabins will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.
- Rooms and cabins are shared and grouped as best as possible to fit requests.
- You will receive your cabin assignments upon arrival.
If you’d rather skip the cabins and provide your own housing, there’s plenty of space for tents and RV’s (no RV hook-ups).
Food: Meals and events will be based out of the Piercing Arrow Dining Lodge complete with an industrial kitchen, walk-in refrigerator, and lots of storage space for your coolers and supplies. MOMS will provide breakfast on both mornings. Please bring 2 potluck dishes to share, one for Friday night dinner and the other for Saturday night, along with any alcoholic beverage you wish to drink. You’ll also need to bring your own lunch for Saturday. Refrigerated items can be stored in the dining lodge walk in refrigerator.
